Dr. Zhibing Hu was a Regents Professor of Physics at UNT. He was a frontier expert on hydrogels, biomaterials, and water-based polymers, with numerous patents and publications in some of the world's most influential journals, such as Nature and Science. Dr. Zhibing Hu was a well-respected and charismatic professor in the classroom, and touched the lives of many during his 22 years at UNT. This fund is created to honor his memory and support students in the hard science fields he loved.
Eligible applicants must:
- Meet the minimum entrance and continuing academic performance standards of the College of Science in effect at the time of any award.
- Maintain full-time enrollment as established by the University.
- Enrolled as a full-time graduate student in physics, chemistry, or materials sciences, unless the student is nearing completion of his or her degree program and does not need full-time enrollment. If no graduate student applicant can be awarded, then undergraduate applicants will be considered.
- Maintain a 3.3 grade point average on a 4.0 scale at time of the award
