The Students Helping Students Scholarship (SHS) is funded through gifts made by College
of Science majors just before their graduation to commemorate their time at UNT. Their
generous donations make it possible for the Dean's Office to grant $1,000 to an incoming
student following in their footsteps.
Recipients are selected early each spring Semester to be award the following fall.
To be considered for the SHS Scholarship, an applicant must possess the following
characteristics:
- Meet the minimum entrance and continuing academic performance standards of the College
of Science in effect at the time of any award.
- Be an incoming full-time student (either first-time-in-college or transfer) beginning
in the fall term and pursuing any degree-granting major within the UNT College of
Science.
- College of Science pre‑majors are eligible to receive the award in their first fall
term. However, to receive continuing support in the following spring term, the student
must meet the College of Science admission requirements and be fully admitted to a
College of Science major while maintaining full-time enrollment.
