The Joann Peters Scholarship was created and funded by a chemistry alum, and the first award will be given in Spring 2019. The award is open to undergraduate Chemistry majors.
This scholarship is awarded through the College of Science (COS). The award consists of a monetary award, which is used to defray tuition and fees for the following academic year.
To be eligible for consideration, an applicant for the Scholarship must meet the following criteria:
- Meet the minimum entrance and continuing academic performance standards of the University (or its successor) in effect at the time of any award;
- Maintain full-time enrollment as established by the University, unless the student is nearing completion of their degree program and does not need full-time enrollment;
- Enroll as an undergraduate student in chemistry (or its successor) at the University; in the event no applicant meets this criteria, then undergraduate students enrolling in biology (or its successor) at the University who have completed three (3) credit hours in chemistry will be eligible; in the event no applicant meets these criteria, then undergraduate students enrolling in physics (or its successor) at the University who have completed three (3) credit hours in chemistry will be eligible;
- Submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words describing the student's work in science; and
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
