Created in 2022 by Jerome M. Westheimer. This generous award provides stipends and support for research-enhancing activities for undergraduate students to implement the Westheimer Science Research Fellows program. The programs objectives are a) to provide undergraduate students with specialized scienctific and research training opportunities, and b) to enhance metorship bonds between the professors and student recipeints as well as among the cohort of undergratduate students participating in the program.

To be elibible for consideration an applicant must meet the following criteria:

1. Meet the minimum entrance and continuing academic performance standards of the university or it's successor in effect at the time of any award
2. Maintain full time enrollment as established by the university unless the student is nearing completion of their degree program and does not need full time enrollment
3. Enroll as an undergraduate student in the College of science at the UNT
4. Be actively conducting research in relevant stem related fields in the College of science
