The John A. Altermann III and Katherine M. Bradford Scholarship is a fund in honor of the brother and sister of faculty member Mark Anthony Altermann to provide scholarships for graduate students in Sciences & Mathematics at the University of North Texas.
This scholarship rotates between Biology, Chemistry, Math, and Physics. The rotation is as follows:
- 2021-2022 - Math
- 2022-2023 - Physics
- 2023-2024 - Biology
- 2024-2025 - Chemistry
Recipient of scholarship will be chosen based on over all achievement.
To be considered for the Altermann and Bradford Scholarship, an applicant must meet the following requirements:

Minimum entrance and continuing academic performance standards of the department's graduate program in effect at the time of the award.

Maintain full time enrollment at UNT, unless there is fewer than twice the number of semester hours required to be full-time remaining in their degree program.

Provide at least two letters of recommendation from persons familiar with applicant's academic work.

Complete the scholarship application form and submit letters of recommendation, (UNT Professor/Instructor is preferred), transcripts of all college work along with a narrative statement discussing career goals, work record, and extracurricular activities.
