Kathleen Carter Receives September COS E=mc2 Award

The Dean is pleased to recognize Kathleen Carter as a recipient of this month's COS Excellence in Mastering Challenges Continuously (E=mc²) Award! This award was established by Dean Quintanilla to recognize outstanding efforts among full-time staff members within the College of Science and its departments.

Kathleen has been a Senior Academic Counselor in the UNT College of Science Advising Office since the summer of 2022. She has a Master's degree in Educational Leadership with a concentration in Higher Education Administration. Prior to coming to UNT, she was lead advisor in the College of Education at the University of Texas in Arlington.

Kathleen received this award in part for her efforts to foster a supportive work environment with a positive attitude and genuine concern for her peers and students. While her job duties can sometimes change from day to day and semester to semester, she spends a lot of time meeting with students and leading the Academic Jeopardy program.

"I also help develop the COS Advising team," she said. "My favorite UNT memory to date is my time within the AccoUNTable Supervisor program learning how to be the best person for my employees and team."

For fun, Kathleen enjoys dabbling in interior design and hanging out with her family. She is also in the process of writing a children's book.

Luis Revilla Mata of the UNT Biological Sciences Department was also a recipient of September's E=mc² Award. Dean Quintanilla plans to continue giving this award to two outstanding COS staff members every month for the foreseeable future. If you'd like a deserving staff member to receive the E=mc² award and a free meal at Avesta courtesy of the college, please complete this nomination form.
