UNT Cares: College of Science Advising Office Announces New Initiatives for Student Community

The COS Advising Office is proud to announce several new interactive events and initiatives to keep our students motivated, academically supported, and actively involved in their community all semester long. One of these is a new project called the Proton Series, which gives students the opportunity to talk face to face with college leaders on an expert panel, from COS Student Ambassadors to prestigious researchers. There's also Level Up for Learning, a partnership with UNT's Learning Center to provide walk-in tutoring and workshops for success!

With these new opportunities also comes the Advising Office's Swipe for Swag initiative. Students who attend college-wide events endorsed by the Advising Office can swipe their ID for rewards. There will be a number of events throughout the Fall 2018 semester that qualify for a check-in, ranging from academic workshops to the aforementioned Q&A panels with our top students and faculty.

Swipe for Swag Rewards

Three (3) Swipes = COS Tote Bag!
Top three (3) Attendees get to have lunch with the Dean!
Every swipe enters you in a drawing for $250 academic bonus!

Upcoming Swipe for Swag events are as follows, with more to be added throughout the semester:

October 9: Proton Series: Faculty Edition

Come learn from the experts. A panel of COS faculty will do an open Q&A about professor expectations, proven study strategies, and other advice to ensure your midterms go smoothly.

October 27: Homecoming

Stop by our COS tailgate and eat some liquid nitrogen ice cream, see a magic show, and connect with other COS students, faculty, and staff.

Nov. 5: College to Careers

Career searches can be daunting. Stop by our College to Careers event and get your resume reviewed, practice your elevator pitch, and ensure your attire is up to par for the All-Major Career Fair on November 7

Nov. 13: Proton Series: Research Edition

Undergraduate research is an invaluable tool for any science student. A panel of top researchers will do an open Q&A about undergraduate research opportunities at UNT and explain how you can get connected with faculty looking to work with undergrad students.

Come to any of the approved gatherings, bring your ID, and swipe to check-in! It's easy. Contact the COS Advising Center if you need assistance or have questions. We're here to help!
