Zoom Tips For Professional Networking from UNT Career Center

-Dress to impress. Make sure you have on a business casual or business professional outfit from head to toe.

-Test video and audio quality on Zoom before the career fair starts. Feel free to pull in an extra lamp for good lighting, and shut any pets or children out of the room.

-Adjust your lighting. Move a lamp around to ensure your face is well lit.

-Think about your background. Make sure it's clean and professional. Zoom does offer virtual backgrounds, so feel free to use them!

-Practice speaking into the camera and not the screen. This will ensure you're making "eye contact" with the recruiter.

-Mute your microphone when necessary. (You will be muted automatically when you join the meeting.)

-Feel free to use Zoom's chat function as well.

-Be mindful of yourself on camera.

-Bring your notes and refer to them at any time. Set them to the side of the screen so you can easily glance at them and don't have to shuffle your papers.

After the Fair

-Follow up with the employers you spoke with! Connect with them on LinkedIn and/or send them a thank you email.

-Schedule an appointment with your career coach to discuss next steps.
