Dr. Francis D’Souza Receives 2022 UNT Research Leadership Award

UNT Chemistry Regents Professor Dr. Francis D'Souza has been named the recipient of the 2022 UNT Research Leadership Award by the UNT Division of Research & Innovation. This award is given to a full-time University faculty member whose research excellence and leadership at UNT has made substantial contribution to their respective discipline and achieved national and/or international recognition.

"I am grateful to my peers for being nominated for this award and was humbled knowing that I was selected for this honor," said Dr. D'Souza. "This achievement couldn't have been possible without the help of our graduate and undergraduate students, very supportive staff and faculty colleagues and collaborators, funding agencies, and UNT for providing the opportunities. I look forward to continuing working with these folks in the coming years while promoting UNT's research and teaching interests."

Dr. D'Souza, who joined UNT in 2011, is a Regents Professor of Chemistry. Dr. D'Souza's research interests include chemistry and supramolecular chemistry of metal macrocycles and carbon nanomaterials, photoelectrochemistry and photovoltaics, electrochemical and photochemical sensors, ultrafast laser spectroscopy, and biosensors. Dr. D'Souza is a Fellow of the Electrochemical Society, the Royal Society of Chemistry, the International Association of Advanced Materials, and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. He is an Associate/Technical Editor of three major journals--the Journal of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanins, ESC Journal of Solid State Science & Technology, and ESC Solid State Letters, and is on the Editorial Advisory Boards of several other journals.

The award will be presented to Dr. D'Souza at the Salute to Faculty Excellence awards dinner and celebration on April 21, 2022.
