Dean Gao Announces Dean's Student Support Fund Initiative

The UNT College of Science Dean Gao is pleased to announce this week that the college has created a Dean's Student Support Fund to provide financial relief to math and science majors facing hardship and adversity during the current global health crisis. With the help of our community of caring alumni and generous donors, we will be able to provide timely financial aid to help our students continue their academic studies and complete their degrees. The Dean's Office has developed a simple application process, and will be able to quickly disseminate awards of $200-500 each to students with compelling needs. Dean Gao thanks the COS Faculty Council for agreeing to serve as the Award Committee that will act swiftly on student applications.

Faculty and staff within the College of Science are encouraged to help identify COS majors in their classes who would benefit from this initiative and urge them to apply for the funding support. The application is available at https://cos.unt.edu/apply-deans-student-support-fund

At the same time, we will continue to campaign among our alumni and donors to help support the fund. If you know of someone who might be interested in helping our students succeed, please also connect them to us. To give to the fund, please visit https://one.unt.edu/supportcos

Dean Gao thanks the UNT community for banding together to make our students' success possible.
