Meet one of our new Career Coaches in the College of Science, Stan Hughes! Stan is an Army veteran and earned his master's degree in Organizational Behavior and an MBA from Benedictine University. Q: How did you get into career advising?

A: I got into advising because of my desire to help our next generation. Paying It Forward is my motivation.

Q: What is your favorite part about your job?

A: Each day brings new challenges and rewards.

Q: What was your previous job/role? What influenced your decision to come to UNT?

A: My last career was working with the K-12 population. The adjustment to UNT has been mindblowing. Each day I work with the UNT student body, I realize I am in the right location.

Q: What advice would you give a college student ready to enter the job market?

A: Take advantage of all the services UNT has to offer.

Q: What advice would you give to a freshman just starting college?

A: The decisions you make now will follow you. Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness, it's the first step to becoming an adult.

Q: What is your favorite thing about UNT?

A: The diverse student population and the harmony you feel on the campus.

Q: What do you do in your spare time?

A: Ride motorcycles.

Q: Is there anything else you'd like to share?

A: Live with a smile and expect to be rewarded for all your efforts.
