Lisa Aguirre Receives August COS E=mc2 Award

The Dean is pleased to recognize Lisa Aguirre as a recipient of this month's COS Excellence in Mastering Challenges Continuously (E=mc²) Award! This award was recently established by Dean Quintanilla to recognize outstanding efforts among full-time staff members within the College of Science and its departments.

"I am honored and surprised to have received this award, as I was not expecting it!" said Lisa upon hearing the news. "I feel very grateful to be a part of the College of Science."

Lisa has been the Assistant Director of College Grant Support in our Research and Graduate Studies Office since April of this year, though her UNT journey began the previous spring. Her day-to-day activities involve assisting departmental staff and researchers with their post-award needs, helping them navigate any issues that may arise.

"In February, the Assistant Director of Research left the university. At the time, Lisa was our College Research Officer, working closely with the UNT's Reseach Office to ensure a smooth transition," said Dr. Ed Dzialowski, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the College of Science. "Lisa stepped up as the remaining individual in the office, dealing with research expenditures and ensuring there was not a decrease in quality of service to our research faculty. She has subsequently been promoted to the Assistant Director role and continues to ensure that the research expenditures of the college move forward efficiently."

Lisa said that her favorite UNT memories so far have been made at some of the many events the university coordinates for students, staff, and faculty.

"One of my favorite things about my job is the working relationships I have built with my colleagues," said Lisa.

Prior to UNT, she worked in the accounting department for Sally Beauty for fifteen years. She loves spending quality time with her family and friends, taking trips, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with her pup Pablo.

Autumn Miller-Arvidson of UNT Chemistry was also a recipient of August's E=mc² Award. Dean Quintanilla plans to continue giving this award to two outstanding COS staff members every month.
