Interim Dean Dr. Ed Dzialowski is pleased to recognize Kristi Loera as the recipient of November’s Excellence in Mastering Challenges Continuously (E=mc²) Award!

Interim Dean Dr. Ed Dzialowski is pleased to recognize Kristi Loera as the recipient of November’s Excellence in Mastering Challenges Continuously (E=mc²) Award! This award recognizes outstanding efforts among full-time staff members within the UNT College of Science. 

Kristi Loera“Receiving this award is an honor and great encouragement,” said Kristi, who is a senior administrative specialist in the math department. “The faculty and staff in my department cheer for each other’s successes and encourage one another when there are difficulties. I appreciate that we support each other and have each other’s backs.” 

As the Grants and Travel Coordinator and the Graduate Program Coordinator, Kristi’s day-to-day activities include reconciling budgets, assisting faculty and visitors with travel processes, making purchases for grant holders, and helping graduate students navigate department procedures. 

"Every day is different, which makes my job interesting!” said Kristi. “Nothing is more satisfying than helping someone solve a difficult problem; math pun intended.” 

In 2021, Kristi received the Rising Star Award during the university’s Staff Appreciation Month. Colleagues report appreciate her consistent reliability and transparency. 

“Kristi consistently monitors and reconciles grants for the department, and I can always rely on her to submit timely and accurate reports,” said Cindy Clark, the college’s Senior Research Analyst. “Kristi also excels in collaboration and proactively seeks clarification, engaging in thoughtful discussions before making decisions.” 

Outside of work, Kristi is a certified therapy dog handler and volunteers weekly at University Behavioral Health Hospital. She also recently started writing a book!
