Dr. Liz Skellam Receives 2024 Early Career Award for Research & Creativity

The College of Science congratulates UNT Chemistry assistant professor Dr. Elizabeth Skellam for receiving the 2024 Early Career Award for Research and Creativity from the UNT Foundation and Faculty Success! This award recognizes a faculty member within their first ten years in a full‐time faculty appointment whose research accomplishments or creative endeavors have been outstanding.

Dr. Elizabeth Skellam grew up near Liverpool, UK, and after an impressive academic journey across Europe and the United States, she joined UNT Chemistry and the BioDiscovery Institute in the Fall of 2020.

Dr. Skellam's research explores natural product biosynthetic pathway elucidation and engineering to generate and develop novel biocatalysts and bioactive molecules with potential use for the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, food and cosmetic industries. Her lab has recieved funding from the National Science Foundation, USDA, WM Keck Foundation, National Institute of Health, and more.

Dr. Skellam was honored at UNT's Salute to Faculty Excellence event that took place on April 26, 2024. This event is hosted each spring by Faculty Success and the UNT Foundation.
