The Dean is pleased to recognize Audrey Boltwood as the recipient of this month’s Excellence in Mastering Challenges Continuously (E=mc²) Award! This award was established by Dean Quintanilla in 2023 to recognize outstanding efforts among full-time staff members within the College of Science and its departments.

“This was such a pleasant surprise!” said Audrey. “I am so grateful for the wonderful and kind people in my department, who always thank me and make me feel appreciated.”Audrey Boltwood

An alumna of UNT’s history department, Audrey has been working in the mathematics department as a full-time Office Support Associate since August 2023. She said that her role fluctuates daily, and the nature of her work depends on the seasonal needs of the department.

“Being at the front desk, I must be ready for any question students or faculty might throw my way while also juggling my administrative tasks behind the scenes,” she said. “I like the variety and fast pace because I like to stay busy.”

“Audrey is doing exceptionally well. As receptionist, she handles all the department’s foot traffic and phone calls competently and with great customer service,” said Dr. Ralf Schmidt, chair of UNT Mathematics. “She also creates posters for events, submits work orders, handles UPCR forms, updates the announcement monitors, is responsible for parts of the website and social media, and does many other things large and small. Everything she touches turns out well.”

“I love to help out our students, answering their questions and helping with enrollment problems,” said Audrey when asked what her favorite part of the job is. “It feels very impactful to give a student peace of mind about a tough situation.”

Audrey said that one of her favorite UNT memories was when she and her husband both celebrated their graduations in commencement ceremonies on the same weekend in 2023.

For fun, Audrey has recently taken up disc golf and she loves to sing. So much so that she’s been taking singing lessons with a Ph.D. student in the College of Music for the past year!
