Academic Advising Senior Leadership team received the Teamwork Award at the 2025 Staff Appreciation Awards. College of Science Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs Tanisha Edwards was a member of the recognized team.
"I am extremely happy to receive recognition for the work that I along with my colleagues
do to support our students and staff every day," said Tanisha. "This award acknowledges
our contribution to making UNT a more productive and enjoyable place to work for our
advisors as well as the excellent service provided to our students."
The Academic Advising Senior Leadership team members demonstrate a collaborative spirit
and support for students across the university daily. Fostering open communication
and their shared vision, team members discuss new policies, exchange knowledge and
resources, analyze workflows, advocate for improvements and carefully navigate complex
higher education laws and regulations while ensuring students are always put first.
They consult on daily questions and unique student issues, meet regularly and recently
acted quickly — during peak advising periods and with a fast-approaching deadline
— to collaborate in an ambitious attempt to align job competencies for advising roles
across colleges and schools. Whether simplifying policies, increasing efficiency or
boosting morale, the team provides the help and support needed to maintain a student-centered
and supportive work environment.
The UNT president shared words of appreciation for staff at the March 26 Staff Appreciation Luncheon:
“These individuals exemplify excellence in their work and a deep dedication to UNT’s shared mission. Each of you plays a vital role in shaping the experience of our students, and I am deeply grateful for your efforts. Today – and really every day – we celebrate your commitment, your Mean Green spirit, and the countless ways that you go above and beyond.
“I want to emphasize how important our work is here for our students every day. You meet our students where they are, you help them overcome challenges, find support that they need, and go on to thrive in the workforce and help them take their talents as far as they want to take them.”
