The Dean is pleased to recognize Sarah Houdek as the recipient of this month’s Excellence in Mastering Challenges Continuously (E=mc²) Award! This award was established by Dean Quintanilla in 2023 to recognize outstanding efforts among full-time staff members within the College of Science and its departments.
“It’s an honor to receive it and to be recognized!” said Sarah. “My favorite part
about my job is the people I get to work with every day.”
For the past seven years, Sarah has been an administrative specialist assisting Instructional Lab Manager Kim Piccolo in the Department of Biological Sciences. She earned her B.A. in Business and Journalism from Baylor and gained a wide range of experience in school districts, advertising production, and at an equine therapy ranch before coming to UNT.
Sarah’s day-to-day involves coordinating projects for the department’s instructional labs and offices, handling scheduling, surveys, and track hiring for grad students, adjuncts, and student workers. She is the departmental SPOT Survey coordinator and Space Survey lead for the department as well.
“Sarah is task-oriented and helps keep all our processes on schedule,” said Kim. “Her commendable work ethic and willingness to jump in when needed allows me to do what I do best.”
