Interim Dean Dr. Ed Dzialowski is pleased to recognize Katie VanNatta as the recipient of this month’s Excellence in Mastering Challenges Continuously (E=mc²) Award! This award recognizes outstanding efforts among full-time staff members within the UNT College of Science. 

“I was surprised to receive the award, and happy to be the first to receive it under our new Interim Dean’s appointment,” said Katie, who is a Senior Admin Coordinator in the chemistry department. “Thank you for the support, it means a lot!” 

Katie’s day-to-day ebbs and flows with the season; her work involves course scheduling, payroll, and assisting students enrolling in their chemistry classes. She said she enjoys having a variety of tasks and interacting with so many different people. 

“Katie is very reliable, responsible, and helpful,” said colleague Betsi Good, a Scientific Instrument Technician for the department. “With her wide range of responsibilities, she excels at multitasking and handles multiple obligations with ease.” 

With a BS in Business Administration from Seattle Pacific University, Katie was the director of operations for a meeting planning company prior to coming to UNT. She said her most interesting job was working as a Peace Corps volunteer after college. 

When not at work, Katie enjoys being outside and gardening, and spending time with her children. Fun fact: she also knows how to speak Bulgarian!
