Please join us in welcoming Dr. Sarah Quintanar as the new interim chair of the Data
Analytics & Statistics department. Dr. Quintanar, who earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in
economics from Louisiana State University, has taught quantitative and qualitative
courses in economics and data analytics for more than ten years. Her research covers
a range of microeconomic topics, currently focusing on policy impact in the wine industry. She
is also passionate about her work with practical application of data and economics
to assist business and government leaders regarding policy impact in economic development. “I am excited to serve as Interim Chair for the Department of Data Analytics & Statistics
during this time of transition,” said Dr. Quintanar. “We've recently joined the College
of Science and welcomed two new statistics faculty. I'm immensely grateful to work with
such a unique and innovative group of faculty and industry advisors who are so passionate
about student success and looking forward to all the exciting things to come!”
Last year, Dr. Quintanar was elected to the national Board of Directors for the Association
for University Business and Economic Research (AUBER). The work AUBER does focuses
on strengthening the link between academic research, industry practices, and economic
growth in regions across the United States.
Data Analytics & Statistics became an official department under the College of Science
in August 2025, providing enhanced opportunities for networking, research collaborations,
and interdisciplinary learning for students and researchers at UNT. Learn more about
