Dr. Wang received her B.S. and M.S. in Inorganic Chemistry from Shandong University,
China, and her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Davis
in 2003. She then completed postdoctoral fellowships at Stanford University and The
Scripps Research Institute, concluding in 2007. That same year, she joined Miami University
as an Assistant Professor, earning a promotion to tenured Associate Professor in 2013.
In 2016, Dr. Wang joined the UNT faculty, where she was promoted to Full Professor
in 2019 and named a University Distinguished Research Professor in 2026.

The research in the Wang group mainly involves synthetic methodology development and
the design and development of novel organic materials with interesting photophysical
and optoelectronic or biological properties. The research principles are “using simple
to make complicated” in the development of synthetic methodologies and “making complicated
simple” in the design and development of organic materials.
