Graduate Application Instructions

 Application Deadlines

Our program is designed for students to begin in Fall, while Spring admission is granted on a case-by-case basis. We do not accept students starting in the Summer.

Program Requirements:

• Minimum 3.00 GPA for all previous degrees  
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field 
• Relevant course work in Analytical, Inorganic, Physical, Organic, Chemical Biology, and/or Computational Chemistry 

Apply to Graduate Admissions

1. Start Your Application  
   1. Apply in UNT GradCAS (Centralized Application System)
   2. Begin by selecting the term you wish to start in

2. Upload Required Application Materials
   1. Transcripts from all colleges or universities attended
   2. Statement of Purpose 
      1-2 page essay that explains why you are applying to UNT, your research experience, your research areas of interest, and what you plan to do with your degree
      
      Please ensure your SOP is NO LONGER than 2 pages.

   3. Curriculum Vitae (CV)/Resume 
   4. Letters of Recommendation 
      At least two must come from faculty in Chemistry or related fields
3. Submit Test Scores 
   The UNT Chemistry does not require the GRE or other tests, but you may upload your scores if you wish
   
   
4. Contact the Chemistry Department 
   Do not submit your application and pay the fee 
   Email chemgrad@unt.edu once all your application materials are in the portal 
   We will send your application to the committee for review
   
   
5. Submit Application and Pay Fee  
   If we notify you that you have been accepted, then you may fully submit your GradCAS application
